Description

We will pick you up at your accommodation or meeting point at 9:30 am or 2:00 pm, and together with our expert local guide, we will take you on a tour of the commercial city of Gamarra, located near the first 'Pueblos Jóvenes' (shantytowns). Upon arrival, around 10:00 a.m. or 2:30 p.m., we will climb the tallest building in the area to enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city of Lima and the extensive territory occupied by Gamarra. It will be an excellent introduction to the history of Lima and its commercial center. Then, we will take you on a walk through the streets of Gamarra, where you will have the opportunity to try some local snacks and typical street food (very popular with the locals), before heading to the witches' market. At around 11:30 a.m. or 3:00 p.m., we will see snakes, lizards, and other stuffed animals, which are used as alternative medicine, a tradition that has been part of popular culture since the arrival of the Andean peoples. You will also find a wide variety of aromatic herbs that shamans use in ancestral rituals to invoke luck, money, wealth, and love. At 12:00 pm or 3:30 pm, black magic is also part of the rituals performed by shamans in Gamarra. Although we do not participate in them, we consider it important for you to see them. At the end, if possible, you will have the opportunity to live a unique experience by visiting the wise Andean woman who has the ability to read your future through coca leaves. At the end of the tour, for a true local experience, we will take the 'public train line 1' back to your accommodation. This tour is unique, super interesting, and offers spectacular views if you like streets full of activity and action. We guarantee you a day you will never forget. Dare to explore Lima in a different way! You will return to your hotel around 12:30 pm or 5:00 pm.
