There are several routes to explore Machu Picchu, each with unique characteristics in terms of difficulty, duration and points of interest, access to the routes will be according to availability. The main routes are the following: Route 2A - Complete Classic Route: Allows you to tour a large part of the complex, including the most emblematic viewpoint from where you get a spectacular panoramic view of Machu Picchu. It is the most popular route. Physical effort: moderate to high. Route 2B - Lower Terrace: Alternative to the previous one, it includes the iconic viewpoint and the agricultural terraces. It offers an equally complete visual experience, but from a different perspective. Physical effort: moderate to high. Route 1A - Machu Picchu Mountain: This route leads to the summit of Machu Picchu Mountain in a 3.8 km hike (round trip), with a duration of two hours. From the top you can appreciate impressive views of the surroundings. Physical effort: high. Route 1B - Upper Terrace: Explore the upper part of the complex and visit the Guardian's House. This route is shorter (approximately one hour), although you can stay in the area for up to four hours. Physical effort: moderate. Route 1C - Inti Punku (Sun Gate): Follow the ancient Inca Trail to Inti Punku, with a distance of 3.4 km. It offers unique views of Machu Picchu. Physical effort: moderate. Route 1D - Inca Bridge: Quiet hike on a less traveled trail, ideal for those looking for a relaxed experience. Visit the Guardian's House and the Inca Bridge. Physical effort: moderate. Route 3A - Waynapicchu Mountain: This challenging route climbs to the top of Waynapicchu, with 2.4 km of trekking. It includes temples and ceremonial structures, but not the classic photography point. Physical effort: high. Route 3B - Royal Route: Ideal for those looking for a shorter experience. With 1.3 km, it explores temples and ceremonial areas. It is partially wheelchair accessible, but does not include panoramic views or the classic photo of Machu Picchu. Physical effort: moderate. Route 3C - Great Cavern: 3 km route, passing by several temples up to the Great Cavern. This route does not offer panoramic views or the classic photograph of Machu Picchu. Physical effort: high.
