Description
Spend a day in the Amazon, the world’s largest river basin and the source of one-fifth of all free-flowing fresh water on Earth. Containing nearly 40,000 plant species, the Amazon sustains the world’s richest diversity of birds, freshwater fish and butterflies. One of the world’s last refuges for jaguars, harpy eagles and pink dolphins, its thousands of tree species are home to southern two-toed sloths, pygmy marmosets and Goeldi’s monkeys. Your tour will begin with a pick-up at your Manaus hotel, or airport. From there you will enjoy a boat cruise to Lake January to see the meeting of the waters at Negro and Amazon Rivers. Switch to canoes and enter the waterway for dolphin observation and to visit the famous Victoria Regia water lilies. Sail by speedboat to an indigenous village, where you will interact with the indigenoue peoples of the Dessanos and Tucanos.
