Description
Pick up at the hotel (Miraflores / San Isidro) around 9 am, then we continue to Pachacamac where we wi ll discover the main sanctuary of the central coast considered by the ancient Andean people for more than 1500 years.
Its temples were visited by crowds of pilgrims in the great Andean rituals. Pachacamac was an accurate oracle who intervened in the lives of the powerful by predicting the future and controlling the movements of the earth. After the fall of the Tawantinsuyu, the sanctuary was abandoned; nevertheless, to this day, the site maintains its imposing material and spiritual presence. People from all over Peru came to the sanctuary of Pachacamac in search of solutions to their problems or answers to their doubts.
The word Pachacamac comes from two Quechua words, the first one 'Pacha' means earth and the second one 'qamac' means soul, so Pachacamac was the soul of the earth, the one who animates the world or Lord of the Earthquakes. The ancient Peruvians believed that a single movement of his would cause cataclysms. The deity of Pachacamac was the centre of all coastal religion.
