Puerto Maldonado – Hacienda Lodge
We'll pick you up at the airport or bus station and take you to the lodge. We'll drive around the city of Puerto Maldonado for two hours, where we'll see various plantations of cassava, banana, and pineapple. Lunch awaits you upon arrival at Hacienda Lodge. After lunch, we'll start our exploration. We'll hike through the forest to admire giant trees up to 30 meters high and explore the flora and fauna. That night, we'll take a night walk to observe a variety of animals, from tarantulas and snakes to insects.
DAY 2
Rural house – Collpa Chuncho – Paradise Lodge
At 4:30 a.m., we'll set off by boat to explore the Tambopata River. The trip will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes. During this time, you'll be able to observe wildlife such as jaguars, tapirs, and capybaras. From there, we'll head to the Chuncho clay lick, the world's largest salt lick. In this collpa, you'll see three species of colorful macaws and three species of parrots. After observing and photographing the fauna in the salt lick, we'll head back to the hostel by boat. There, we'll have time to pack and have lunch. After lunch, we'll head to Puerto Maldonado by car. From there, we'll sail along the Madre de Dios River for about 30 minutes until we reach our second hostel: Paradise Lodge. After dropping off our belongings, we'll explore another type of forest where we can observe animals and birds, and then we'll cross the hanging bridges to appreciate another type of vegetation from above. In the afternoon, we'll do our last activity. Travelers will have the chance to cruise the Madre de Dios River in search of caimans.
DAY 3
Paradise Lodge – Sandoval Lake
After breakfast at Paradise Lodge, we'll pack up and head by boat to the Tambopata National Reserve (Lake Sandoval). There, you'll have the chance to observe animals such as giant otters, four species of monkeys, butterflies, and a variety of colorful birds native to Peru. - Accommodation: You'll have the privilege of sleeping inside the National Reserve at Sandoval Lodge, a property belonging to a local family. This accommodation is simple, comfortable, and a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature. - For lunch, we'll enjoy a typical jungle dish, the 'juane,' at Sandoval Lodge. - After lunch, you'll have a few minutes to rest, then we'll explore another part of the reserve and head back to the lodge.
