Description

Puerto Maldonado – Paradise Lodge We'll pick you up at the airport or bus station and take you to the lodge. We'll drive 15 minutes through the city of Puerto Maldonado. Then we'll sail along the Madre de Dios River for about 30 minutes before reaching our first lodge: Paradise Lodge. After lunch and dropping off our gear, we'll explore the jungle in search of animals and birds in the primary forest, learning about medicinal plants and observing giant trees. That night, we'll go on a night walk, where we can observe a wide variety of animals, from tarantulas and snakes to insects. DAY 2 Paradise Lodge - Sandoval Lodge Our activity will start very early, at 5:00 a.m. We'll sail upstream for 45 minutes to see the parrot clay lick, where we can spot four species of parrots. After visiting the lick, we'll head back to the hostel for a delicious breakfast. We'll pack up our belongings and head by boat to the Tambopata National Reserve (Lake Sandoval). There, you'll have the chance to observe animals like giant otters, four species of monkeys, butterflies, and a variety of colorful birds native to Peru. Accommodation: Travelers will have the privilege of sleeping inside the National Reserve at Sandoval Lodge, a hostel belonging to a local family. This hostel is simple, comfortable, and a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature. For lunch, we'll enjoy a typical jungle dish, the 'juane,' at Sandoval Lodge. After lunch, you'll have a few minutes to rest and settle in before embarking on an evening exploration of the virgin forest. There, we'll look for more animals, birds, and plants native to the area. That night, we'll look for caimans, some up to 4 meters long, before heading back to the lodge for the night. DAY 3 Sandoval Lodge - Palm Forest - Paradise Lodge At 4:30 a.m., we'll take a walk through the palm grove to watch the macaws and blue-and-yellow parrots having breakfast (nuts). Then, we'll head back to Sandoval Lodge for breakfast and finish exploring the National Reserve. From there, we'll head back by boat to Paradise Lodge (our first accommodation), where lunch awaits us. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a canopy and zip line adventure. Here you can see toucans and other small, colorful birds. That night, you can relax in nature, share with other travelers, and enjoy your last night at the lodge. DAY 4 Paradise Lodge - Puerto Maldonado After breakfast, we'll pack up and head back to Puerto Maldonado. There, travelers can choose to stay in the city or be transferred to the airport.
