Description
Learn how to dye with plants and weave on a waist loom in a workshop with master weavers of Peru, recognized by UNESCO. Be involved in the process, dye your own wool, and make your own textile piece. Enjoy a full day of adventures in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Upon arrival, be greeted with a warm welcome from the artisans and Pututeros who will delight you with the magnificent sounds of the pututo (seashell) and with some local customs of the community.
Receive an explanation about the project, traditional textiles trajectory, recognitions, and the textile industry in general. Take a tour of the workshop and see a demonstration of the process of making traditional textiles.
Listen to a theoretical talk about the ancestral dyeing and weaving and its history. Then, start with the experience at the workshop. Go out to collect plants, prepare the wool, and begin the dyeing process.
Have an assistant guide you through the process of dyeing and weaving. After the dyeing activity, enjoy a family-style lunch with the artisans in the workshop.
After lunch, have a full adventure afternoon of great concentration and perseverance in learning to master the threads to go forming different motifs in your textile piece.
Once you finish the experience, take home the wool you dyed and the loom you weaved.
