**Your Peruvian Cooking Experience** begins at the front desk of **Casa de Ávila Hotel**, located just four blocks from Arequipa’s Main Square. After completing the payment process and meeting your fellow participants, you’ll be welcomed into our **open-air kitchen**, nestled within the hotel’s peaceful garden—an ideal setting to immerse yourself in Peruvian culture.
The kitchen is located in a **beautiful, spacious courtyard**, where nature and birds will accompany you throughout the activity. The space is thoughtfully prepared to ensure your comfort, with dedicated areas for cooking, preparation, and dining. It’s a safe, well-ventilated environment with continuous views of the courtyard. In fact, many photos used by other cooking classes in Arequipa were taken in our kitchen!
An **experienced, bilingual instructor** assigned to your group will greet you and provide aprons and hats for everyone. This is a perfect moment to snap some pre-cooking photos!
We’ll begin by preparing the ingredients for the selected menu. No need to take notes—**you’ll receive a digital recipe booklet** after the class. Get ready to chop, peel, and season under the guidance of your instructor.
Each dish will be prepared step-by-step. Some recipes may require frying, baking, or simple mixing. You’ll be **hands-on throughout**, learning techniques and tips, including suitable substitutions for ingredients you might use at home.
Once the cooking is complete, you’ll take time to plate and garnish your dishes—ideal for a **photo-worthy moment** to remember your creation.
Then comes the best part: sitting down to **enjoy the delicious meal you prepared**, together with your group. Water and **refreshing Chicha Morada** (a traditional non-alcoholic drink made from purple corn) are included.
To enhance your experience, you can add a **Pisco Sour class or a wine tasting**—both available to book in advance or on the day of your class.
After the session, we’ll send you the full recipe booklet by email so you can **recreate the dishes at home** and share your new culinary skills.
