The proof is in the Historic Center, where centuries-old churches, convents, and magnificent homes with elegant balconies have been preserved, representing renaissance, baroque, neoclassical, and other contemporary styles.

In 1988, the Convent of San Francisco was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Historic Center of Lima received the same recognition in 1991.
