The first floor of the restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and tasteful décor. I visited for a friend’s birthday, and we decided to try the poke bowls. They were served in deep, generously filled bowls. However, they were so full that you end up eating the top ingredients first, leaving the ones at the bottom for last, which slightly affects the overall experience. The flavor was aceptable, but not particularly memorable /good, yet not enough to make me want to order it again.
Absolutely love Jirka! I’ve already eaten 6 times here in less than a month! This is one of the best restaurants in Huaraz. The service is outstanding, the servers are very sweet and friendly. The cuisine is Nikkei, and in par with Lima restaurants, I’d even say better than some of the Nikkei I’ve had in Lima. Sashimi 3000 is our fav dish. All the maki rolls are excellent. Keep in mind that we are in a mountain town of 3000 m or 10,000’ elevation, so unlike the other review that said they don’t have fresh seafood, use common sense. Huaraz is not next to an ocean. The seafood they serve is excellent in quality. All their Nikkei ceviche’s have cushuro or Andean caviar. It’s crispy yet melt in the mouth delicious. Our fav makis are the golden and the spicy red, but they are all 5 star! To anyone not understanding what Nikkei cuisine is, please google before making comments like this is not authentic Japanese cuisine or they don’t use sushi rice in their rolls. Nikkei is a blend of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine and the chef has the right to interpret it based on the ingredients available to them in a small mountain town far away from Lima. As for the ambiance, the paintings on the wall are adorable, of hummingbirds, fishermen, koi pond, and flowers. They have upstairs intimate seating too. It’s VERY clean and tidy. Bathrooms are in excellent clean condition. I’d give them 10 stars, but google only allows 5! We will eat many more meals here in the last week we have left in Huaraz! Keep up the good work!
We are in Huaraz for a month visiting from the US. We’ve been here already 3 times! Each time the food has been excellent, including service. I like to eat healthy and it’s difficult to find food that’s not deep fried or full of potatoes and meat. This place has great rolls, ceviche and bowls with quinoa and veggies. I highly recommend! The best place in Huaraz without a doubt. We will be eating most of our dinners here.
