Dead Bull (Dead Bull) Rock Carvings

Hidden within this arid landscape are some of the greatest examples of cave art in the world. An estimated five thousand pieces of volcanic tuff depict an animal, human and geometric figures likely to have been carved between 500 and 1300 B.C.
 
Toro Muerto reigns in the province of Castilla, very near the river Majes, whose incomparable prawns are the principal ingredient in the delectable cuisine of the 'White City.


Stone carvings

A menagerie of animals such as condors, foxes, alpacas, snakes, and fish mingle with geometric shapes and dancing figures on the stone that, after centuries, remain intact.
 
The greatest threat to the complex is some of its visitors, who do not hesitate to break the rocks to remove the beautiful illustrations. Today the guides remember that 152 drawings were discovered on a single rock.
