Inkaterra machu picchu pueblo hotel

While it is true that it is not the closest hotel to the ruins of Machu Picchu, the location of the Inkaterra has another type of attraction. Around this ecological hotel of eighty-five rooms nestled in the middle of the mountain, there are about five hectares of forest, where all kinds of animals and plants, wild birds and exotic orchids are found. It is on the outskirts of Machu Picchu Pueblo, formerly known as Aguas Calientes; If you feel like exploring it, there are bars and restaurants.

However, there are countless reasons not to leave the hotel. The eighty-five rooms and suites are scattered across the grounds, with their classic Spanish colonial style, their furniture made by local artisans and their alpaca blankets lying on the beds. The shoes are made from recycled materials, the toiletries are harmless to the environment, and, despite the wood burning fireplaces, the Inkaterra, in general, does not emit carbon.

The haute cuisine of the restaurant and the full range of spa services show that, however rustic and ecological the Inkaterra is, it is a luxury hotel. However, the hotel is only half the charm of this place. Machu Picchu comes to see the citadel, and that is a half-day excursion from the Inkaterra, which you can do accompanied by an expert guide.

Directions to the hotel:
Inkaterra Machu Picchu is 113 kilometers from Cuzco, and the city of Cuzco is four hours away by train. The hotel recommends going to Ollantaytambo by car and, from there, traveling the last hour and a half by train.
