Description

Embark on a breathtaking journey with our 5-day, 4-night Choquequirao Trek – a true hidden gem in the heart of the Andes. Experience the magic of untouched nature, ancient ruins, and vibrant cultures as you make your way to the 'Cradle of Gold'. Perfect for adventure seekers and history enthusiasts alike, this tour promises stunning landscapes, rich history, and an unforgettable adventure. Your adventure of a lifetime begins here! Day 1: Cusco - Cachora - Capuliyoc - Chikiska The Choquequirao Trek begins with an early 4:30 am pickup from your hotel in Cusco for a 4-hour drive to Capuliyoc. Enjoy a breakfast prepared by your trekking chef before starting your 4-hour hike from Capuliyoc (2950 m) to Chikiska at 1950 m. The hike offers stunning views of the Apurimac Canyon, one of Peru's deepest, alongside a transition from the highlands to the cloud forest's lush landscapes. Day 2: Campsite - Marampata - Choquequirao Day 2 starts with a 5:00 am wake-up to coffee or coca tea before embarking on the most demanding segment. After breakfast, the journey descends to Playa Rosalina at 1500 m, taking around 1.5 hours amidst beautiful landscapes. After crossing the Apurimac River via a suspension bridge, the hike continues uphill for 2 hours to Santa Rosa for a lunch break with stunning views. The day's trek concludes with a 2.5-hour ascent to Marampata village at 2940 m, setting up camp with magnificent views and excellent stargazing opportunities at night. Day 3: Explore Choquequirao Ruins Early start with hot coca tea or coffee to enjoy a spectacular sunrise in the mountains. After breakfast, embark on a 2-hour hike to spend the day exploring Choquequirao. A comprehensive tour led by your guide will highlight the most impressive spots and delve into the history of Choquequirao and the Incas. Known as the 'cradle of gold' and considered the twin sister of Machu Picchu, Choquequirao is nearly twice its size and is poised to become one of South America's leading tourist attractions. After a thorough exploration, return to the same campsite for dinner and another night under the stars. Day 4: Choquequirao - Marampata - Coca Masana Enjoy another sunrise at Marampata before descending for 4 hours to Playa Rosalina (1500 m). The trail offers stunning mountain views. Then, hike 2 hours up to Coca Masana campsite (2330 m), enjoying the diverse flora, fauna, and distant waterfalls. Day 5: Coca Masana - Capuliyoc - Cusco Your final wake-up will be with coffee or coca tea in your tent, followed by breakfast and a 3-hour uphill trek to Capuliyoc. After lunch and farewells to the team, board private transport to Saywite, an enigmatic carved rock site. Enjoy time for exploration before the return to Cusco, with hotel drop-off around 5 pm.
