Really good food. We started with the trout. It was delicious. Balanced flavours, japanese style. Then we had the picanha and de rigatoni. Both were excellent! Fairly priced for this quality of food. Ended the night with some delicious cocktails. Not your standard cocktail. They know what they're doing.
We had amazing food here, some of the best we have had in Peru. I had the rack of lamb (that are actually lamb cutlets) and my partner had the beef. However, given the fact that every table is lined with wine glasses, as if having wine with your dinner is the typical drink of choice, it was pretty absurd when we found out the entire restaurant only had two half-empty bottles of wine left to sell us with our steaks and that was all the wine they had for the rest of the Saturday service. We ordered 2x2 glasses of wine between the two of us, which finished their entire stock. Pretty laughable really. We ordered the second drink because we wanted it to accompany the tiramisu we ordered for dessert, but once the drinks were poured and we had waited a few minutes, the waiting staff came to tell us they had no dessert available! And this is from an extremely small menu, one would think they'd nail it. Genuinely a bizarre experience, but the wine we did get and the mains we did get did taste really, really good, so I'll give them that. But we probably won't be back.
This place was insane! Lenard was so so so great. We’re visiting from Canada where we already have pretty good service, but Lenard went above and beyond, better than Canadian service! Atmosphere was incredible too, great interior design. Lots of options for cocktails and hard liquor, best whiskey sour and negroni in Arequipa. Had a chat with one of the owners aswell who gave us a great recommendation for breakfast spots around town for tmrw morning. Thank you!
We stumbled upon Texao after coming up short at two other restaurants and just wandering. The staff were welcoming and the pisco sours and food were outstanding. We had a long talk with our server, Jordan, who was so informative about life in Arequipa and Peru. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm, we felt like we had plenty of time to enjoy our drinks and meal without being rushed. Definitely up there with one of the best meals we’ve eaten in Peru!
