Description

The guide will pick us up at our accommodation in Cuzco between 4:30 and 5:15 in the morning. When the whole group is together, we will begin a journey of several hours by car, in which we will enjoy the spectacular snowy landscapes of the Salkantay or Humantay mountains. Day 1: Pick up in Cusco and drive to Soraypampa, passing through Mollepata for breakfast. Hike to Humantay Lagoon, then continue to Soraypampa campsite. Total hiking distance: Not specified Highlights: Humantay Lagoon, views of snowy landscapes Day 2: Early morning hike to Salkantay Pass, the highest point of the trek. Descend to Huayracmachay for lunch, then continue to Colpapampa campsite. Total hiking distance: 11.8 miles (19 km) Highlights: Abra Salkantay, views of valleys and snow-capped peaks Day 3: Hike to La Playa Sahuayaco through the Santa Teresa Valley. Private bus to Lucmabamba, with an option to visit thermal baths in Santa Teresa. Total hiking distance: 12.43 miles (20 km) Highlights: Santa Teresa Valley, possible visit to thermal baths Day 4: Hike along an Inca trail to Llactapata, then to Hidroeléctrica. Walk along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes. Total hiking distance: 7.45 miles (12 km) Highlights: Llactapata ruins, views of Machu Picchu Day 5: Early morning visit to Machu Picchu for a guided tour. Optional hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. Return to Cusco by train + bus or bus only. Highlights: Sunrise at Machu Picchu, guided tour of the citadel.
