One of Lima’s few water-front dining and drinking options, and regularly cited as one of the best bars and restaurants in Peru, Cala is gloriously situated, looking out at the ocean over a rocky beach. It’s a stylish and contemporary if boxy space with an elegant downstairs lounge bar and an equally chic dining room upstairs, complete with a wall of glass on the ocean side allowing you to revel in the proximity of the Pacific.
Enjoy th view with your food
The kitchen serves creative, modern takes on Peruvian cuisine, with a particular emphasis, not unsurprisingly, on fresh seafood. Try the zingy grilled grouper with olive gazpacho, or the lightly fried snapper served on a bed of mashed corn and Portobello mushrooms. The lucuma tiramisu, made with local fruit, is an inventive take on an over-familiar dessert. The ocean-side lounge serves bar food and, of course, an exemplary pisco sour.
There can be few better spots to sip this classic Peruvian drink than the adjacent terrace, with the ocean rolling before you, the gulls wheeling overhead.
