Had Rocotto Relleno, a local dish in Arequipa. Totally worthy to try, portion was generous. Staff were very kind, the restaurant itself was very quiet and peaceful. The kitchen looked really clean.
Good pisco sours for a reasonable price (25 soles). The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance with music quiet enough to talk and stone walls. However, the food was incredibly disappointing. We started with a catch of the day ceviche which was by far the worst we've had in peru. The fish didn't have a pleasant texture and the flavour of the dish was bland and uninspiring. We then had the recommendation of the chupe de camaron and rocoto releno for main which we hoped would be more tasty than the ceviche. Sadly, this was not the case...thank goodness they provided us with salt and pepper because without those I'm not sure what we would have done 😅 this probably sounds dramatic, but this is one of the most we've paid for a meal in peru and every dish was the worst in flavour we've had. Do not understand the good rating here. Extremely disappointed Update to their response: They never even asked us about the food. It's not reasonable to assume "eating food = enjoying food" when you're hungry and have a bus to catch. Not sure about the feet bit, maybe a different customer, either way a bizarre thing to say about a customer on a public platform, bad look.
Phenomenal. The rocotto relleno was out of this world. The potato pie with it really made it but the meat in the chili was phenomenal too. I don’t even like potato in boiled form much nor in pies but this was something else. Highly recommend. Staff are phenomenal too.
